Event: EnCana Corporation Merger Celebration
Location: Calgary Olympic Oval
Event Profile
When Pan Canadian and Alberta Energy Corp. merged in early 2002, senior management decided to celebrate the birth of the newly minted energy giant, EnCana Corporation, with its employees. A large venue, the Olympic Oval, was chosen to accommodate both an audience of 6,000 and the "Cirque du Soleil" type performance, a dramatic way to signify EnCana's exciting future.
The staging and video assignment was complex: ensure the effective delivery of EnCana's business message to every member of the audience, facilitate the circus performance involving multiple stages and aerial acrobatics, and capture the whole affair on video. As well, precious space had to be configured into a highly functional "backstage" area for crew, talent and the catering service.
Mediaco Solutions
- Over 2,500 feet of velour drapery, perfectly lit, provided simple yet visually dramatic way to separate key areas of the staging area and conceal others.
- Six extra-large screens were mounted to provide clear audience sightlines across the vast space.
- Brand-new high-brightness projectors ensured the message displayed clearly and crisply on the large screens from every vantage point.
- An ingenious rigging system enabled the installation of balanced and comfortable sound-and-light experience throughout the Oval.
- Five video cameras, including mobile cameras, captured the heart-stopping circus action as they performed from multiple stages, and flew high above the audience.
- Customized computer graphics and video clips added extra impact to on-screen playback of event highlights.

In our industry, good service is the common currency. At Mediaco The Presentation Company, we go far beyond that. We are obsessed with impressing you. Our house blend of ability, creativity and energy is, we firmly believe, unmatched in Canada. "The Mediaco Way" is what our staff call it. Our clients call it "great attitude."
Whatever its name, it has earned us chances to serve many of the country's most exacting clients from the ranks of government, major corporations, chartered banks, associations, and leading event planners. It has resulted in an extraordinary resume: APEC summit meetings, Royal Visits, Commonwealth Games, and billion-dollar industry announcements.
Of course, major events like these don't happen every day. But from these opportunities we have developed a level of service (but no attitude) that shows up in all of our video staging projects, small or large.
How can we serve you?
